      Kuchibeni kohaku transformation

Here is my kuchibeni kohaku after 4 months of keeping.

He (I suppose from how yelloow the head is) starts at 25cm in december 2018 and measures 43cm early this April 2019.

Earlier on his growth is exceptional, reaching 9cm over the course of first month.
I eased his Hi silk growth food a bit and changing the diet partially into hikari wheat germ dan JPD akafuji color enhancing food.

Sure enough he grew more slowly for the remaining 3 months and gained most of the beni quality back.

Wishing for a good progress on body comformity, skin and size in the next few years.

I can definitely see that the color was able to keep up with the growth. On the second photo but you turned it around

Yes. It was rather alarming due to extremely fast growth that his beni had stretched.

But followed by deliberate slower growth and increased color enhancing food. It works rather well

This is a great example of elastic, great quality beni! The amount of growth this fish, even while being male, was able to achieve without having the beni break speaks volumes about your koi husbandry.

Very impressive bulk to the body for a Male, great tail tube & nice odome. Skin has luster, shiroji glows & can be cleared up further for show purposes pretty easily, & pattern would compliment a large bodied koi as this fish bulks up further. Kiwa & sashi look relatively even, and the hoshi shows this fish's beni still has room to mature further.

It is a keeper. The skin looks really good. Beni is not hard.

      Thanks for your koi appreciation.

I shall update again in the future few months, while the true test of time and mystery would be his size potential when reaching the end of sansai (he is early in his nisai at most now, but I suspect late tosai is also possible).

You see, after all he comes with no paper of origin to back-up any assurance of potential size.
It reached current size at such growth rate even while kept in a 150 gallon tub with a fellow sanke. A tad small and might sound cramped, but careful water management (twice daily W/C of 25% in total) showed it can be done.

He will enter my main pond pretty soon.
