3/16 barbed fittings and airline size

I run 3/16" barbed fittings on my sweetwater air stones and I currently use non-sinking airline, which I hate. I plan on switching to weighted airline, but it appears the smallest size is 1/4". Does anyone know if the 1/4" line will securely fit on 3/16" barbed fittings?

      Thanks

Is it 1/4" inside diameter (ID) or outside diameter (OD) tubing? 1/4" OD probably has a 3/16" ID
and would fit fine, but I'd ask to be sure.

Self-Sinking Aeration Hose is spec'd out based on ID, so the 1/4" hose will be the ID dimension. I was hoping for guidance for its use with 3/16" fitting. Anyone?

The easy thing is to get a 3/16" to 1/4" barb fitting and leave a couple inches of the current hose on it. Other than, that using hose clamps on the 1/4" hose over the 3/16" barb might work... Or just replacing the airstones.

I ran into a similar problem. The outlet to my air pump and the stones were both 3/16". I ended up using regular 3/16" airline to connect the two, but ran that 3/16" tubing inside 3/8" weighted tubing for the last few feet. Keeps the airlines from floating and you only need enough weighted tubing to go from the pond wall to the bottom...
