Deal on a filter is it worth it?

So I am looking at converting a 180 gallon livestock pond into a small gold fish or koi pond this spring. I just saw a deal for an unopened Laguna pressure-flo 2100 UVC (high performance pressurized pond filter system) for $50. I realize this is a good deal but i have to drive 40 mins to get it, is this worththe drive? Also I know this is crazy over filtering but over filtering can always mean an upgrade later lol

I used that 2100 model for a couple of years. It is probably good for about 400-800 gallons of medium stocked fish pond. So should suit your needs.
There are many who believe that for a pressurized filter to perform well the KH level must be above 100, even at 150 or above. That seems to be contested by some, but if you get this unit I would recommend maintaining KH at 150.
This unit could also be used to feed a small shower. Even just a 5 gallon bucket of H1 or cermedia or some other fired ceramic.

Welcome and thanks for joining Koiphen!

I've never been a fan of small pressure filters like these. 185 gallons is really too small for koi. If you go
this route I would stick to goldfish.
There are simple filters like sand and gravel or a shower filter that could be made easily and would work
better than a small pressure filter imo.

I think that is a great price for that filter.....perfect for a small pond such as you propose.

As has been stated, 180 gallons is really small for Koi....that size, however, is great for a few goldfish and a couple of plants.

Well picked up the filter and its brand new bio balls still in plastic. Found out this retails for $579 and I only paid $50 for it, didn't ask questions I just know that I scooped a good deal!
