The risk I took was calculated, but man am I bad at math!
Deformed gill plates are ussually culled out as soon as they are noticed. No they will not grow back. All though I have had one of my own for many years and she lived a healthy life.
my mutt breeding last summer resulted in a large number of deformed gill plates. I culled them as mentioned above.
