      Do you ever see shortened gill covers in your fish?

      Especially those that hatch your own and in fingerlings? If so what do you think is the cause? Did they grow back to normal length?
      The risk I took was calculated, but man am I bad at math!

      Deformed gill plates are ussually culled out as soon as they are noticed. No they will not grow back. All though I have had one of my own for many years and she lived a healthy life.

      my mutt breeding last summer resulted in a large number of deformed gill plates. I culled them as mentioned above.
