Just increased to 17 units this morning. The koi ate all 15 units yesterday. Man these koi have a healthy appetite
I just increased to 19 units this morning that’s 285 grams a day of koi food
I use the PetSafe Healthy Pet Feeder. It works really well. It feeds between 1/8 to 4 cups per feeding @ 1/8 cup increments & up to 12 times a day (of course it depends on the amount of food available in the hopper) all programmable. 4 D batteries lasted 5 months @ 5 meals/ day, only varying the amount per feeding. I taped over the battery cover holes on the bottom to keep bugs out of the food and modified the feed chute to spread the feed pattern but, it was an easy enough mod. They can be found online for as low as $59.99 for a factory refurbished unit. I recently bought one as a backup, used on craigslist for $20. The seller used it for 2 months but, her cat couldn’t eat kibble anymore. Looks new and the batteries were still at 1.5V each. Just sharing.

Yeah I picked it up thinking the one I used the last 2 years might need replacing someday but, after I gave it a cleaning and put some new batteries in, it’s running like new. So I’ll keep the other one I got off CL for backup or parts. I know it might not say “koi” anywhere on it but, honestly it’s a better product than others I’ve tried.

will do a test later tonight seachem safe works instantly or takes a few hours?
How many people are using this feeder outdoors? How well does it keep feeding with a lot of rain.
EDIT: I have been reading Amazon reviews, and some people put these in 5 gallon buckets to protect them from the weather. Seems like a good idea.

sounds like a great idea.
im feeding 20x a day 6am-8pm and 2 handfulls one in the morning and 1 at night
How wide is the spout where the food comes out? Will it fit through a 2" pvc adapter? I'm thinking about going through the side of a bucket with the m/f adapters like we do on the s/g filters. Then I would put on a 45 and slope a pipe down to the pond. That way they would be fed further from the edge and be safer from predators. I would only use the auto feeder when we go out of town.
Update on my p7000 feedings
Currently at 42x a day 6am-8pm
Feeding 13 hrs a day x 60 minutes = about every 18.5 minutes there's feed that dispensed.
Man, 42 times a day. I would need to take out a personal loan for food. Lol. Our Koi Cafe does 5x, I only wish it could do maybe 6 times a day. Other than that I like it.
200 feed units with 2 p7000
