      What are these growths? Hikui?

I recently moved into a place with a stocked koi pond, and one of the large koi's has large growths just before it's dorsal fin. They're multiple colors, and almost appear to be filled with fluid, but I don't think they are.

I'm new to koi and just starting to learn how to care for them. Hikui is the only thing I've found that might be the cause, but I really have no idea.

Whatever it is, is it treatable? Should I quarantine him/her? Or just put her down (how do you euthanize a koi)?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Any chance you can get a picture that is clear? Very hard to tell what we are looking at.

Whatever it is....no, I don't think you should just euthanize the koi. If it's something viral, it will likely come and go with temperature changes and may or may not return. I have stuff pop up now and then and once it is there, it's there. If it's hikui, you don't need to euthanize.

Can you please provide water parameters for:
      ammonia
      nitrite
      pH
      KH

Off topic comment....the koi looks very thin from the sideways photo I can see.

So apparently this koi has had the issue before you moved in? I would talk to the previous owner to get history of pond and fish. As Ademink has mentioned. This koi looks malnourished. Or possibly another issue. Would recommend the API fresh water master test kit. Get the kit with ph,ammonia, nitrite, nitrate test bottles. This well help you monitor the water in the future. Do you do water changes? Probably not Hikui.

It is just one Koi happens to be in an unhealthy environment over time
Tend to lost its colors and weird things overtake
I’ve seen a few cases in overcrowded and inadequate filtration ponds.
I agree it doesn’t look attractive but it does have the right to enjoy retirement

I just ordered a test kit. I probably should have made the pond a higher priority than some of the other projects I tackled first.

I've not done any water changes. The waterfall does leak so there's a constant trickle of new water coming in. The pond is about 2,000 gallons. The filter is rated for 3,000-4,000, and there's an additional UV/Bio filter. Other than feeding the fish and backwashing the filter, I haven't been doing much to the pond.

I bought the house from a widow who moved away soon after her husband died, so the house was empty for a few months and I can't really contact the prior owner.

A couple close ups of the growths are attached.

      Looks like tumor to me.

Hikui general occurs on kohaku in the red areas. I am don't think it is seen on any other fish.
