PSKoi - KHV Test Results 1-18-19

On January 9th, after 8 weeks of heating to 75 degrees, we tested about half of the Koi we brought in from our October trip to Japan. We brought in Koi from 4 breeders so each test is for multiple Koi.

Yes, it seems the outbreak this year is a carryover from last year. The reports are popping up worldwide. It makes the importance of a thorough qt very important to protect an existing pond populace. It also means hobbyists will have to do their due diligence regarding which dealers are doing proper qt and testing. It's the reason PSKoi developed the ongoing association with Purdue University and is building an entirely new facility for new arrivals. These koi will be held at 75 degrees and tested 30 days later for KHV. During this period they will be treated for parasites and potential bacterial issues.
