      Temporary Intex Pool/pond set up

      All,

Has anyone used this Intex pool for temporary set up before? How durable is that? I will move next month and can't get the new pond built that quick. I plan to buy 2 of these and have a temporary set up in the garage until the new pond is built, hopefully by sometimes this summer.

      Any other recommendations?

      https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Above-G...7795627&sr=8-5

      Thanks,
      hp.

They work great. I've had several and had one in my garage for a QT for almost 8 years before the bottom
started leaking. I'd toss the pump/filter that comes with them. You can make a DIY retro BD and a Dream Ponds
tank connector works great to go through the thin sidewalls. I just used The retor drain to a pump, to a s/g filter and
back out to the pool, but any pump fed filter would work (showers, moving beds, etc).
Be sure where ever you set it up is very flat and level.

If not using the pump/filter buy it without and save money. Get a net.

I wish I had noticed it came without... I've got 3 of those pumps along with cartridges galore if anyone
      needs one.

      Here is another on eBay
      This is 10foot https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intex-10-Fo...ss!92841!US!-1
I hooked up one 2 days ago for a friend and it is pretty spacious
Afraid you don’t have the room for 2- 10’
Can the 12footer fit all? It would be easier

      Thanks All!

      Steve,
Nice set up. Do you think a regular bulkhead would be OK? I have a few of them that I can use but I probably should buy those tank connector. I plan to have some type of mechanical filter, probably matala mat, then moving bet filter. I’ll set it up in my garage so the surface is pretty smooth.

      BWG,
Thanks! I didn’t know they have that option. I’ll definitely buy that. I don’t need those filter and pump.

      Mitch,
Thanks. I probably go with one 12ft. 1 set up is easier. In addition, I don’t want to take up all the garage space… I think with all the filter and pump set up, it will take a lot space. The last thing I want is to let my wife think I love the fishes more than the family. It’s raining 8months/yr here so she wants to park her car in the garage. I will need to up my filter, and do water change more often. I have 2 big pumps and one of them can already get the water turn over like 4x/hr or more. So, I think that will help

I also plan to use this opportunity to reduce the fish count. I have some fishes that I am 50/50 on keeping. I can let those go now ..

      Thanks,
      hp

Probably but I've personally only used the tank connectors so hate to say one way or the other.
You just want something with a good amount of surface area on both sides (inside and outside the
pool) to seal as the Intex material is very thin.

I would skip the bulkhead and go with a tank connector. I was stubborn and used a bulkhead on my intex and it leaked on my 2nd intex. I'm using a more sturdy tank that I got from a1 koi on here. It is much taller than a intex so it holds 1350 gallons of water and is 39.5 inches tall. They cost $600 though but imo well worth it.

. That’s a great setup. How often do you have to clean out the San Diego and gravel filter. It it is one

Thanks, they have worked pretty well. I try and make the air manifold stick up about 10"-12" above the water level in the
s/g filter and when the water in that pipe would get up towards the top I'd clean it and that would take about 1 1/2 weeks.
It all depended on how many fish I had in the QT tank at a time. I could go a month when nobody was in it and the water
was only a few inches above the water level in the filter.

No problem man. I'm often stubborn but I share my mistakes. This tank has been so nice and good long term compared to an intex. I'll send a link when I get back by computer

Here is the tank I'm using. At 10 feet diameter you get 1868 vs like 1200 on an intex and it is well built.

I went with the 10ftx30" pool. It's little smaller than what I want. I plan to add 2 additional 300 gallon totes, 1 for moving bed filter and 1 inline for additional water. This will bring the whole system to around 1800 gallons. Hopefully this will be enough and give me time to build a new pond. The whole backyard needs a lot of work. I want to clear out a few thing first and figure out how my new pond will fit in with the new landscape. So, it's probably not going to be done until the end of summer...

The pool should be here today.. I'll get the set up going this weekend..
