Probably. Most these have sores and split fins. It is cool watching the kids feed them and get all excited

Great pictures! Gorgeous landscaping! Are you having a good time Kevin? Wish I was there.

Mitch, Swans are almost entirely herbivorous. They eat aquatic plants but some have also been known to eat insects, snails and fresh water shrimp.

Thanks. Yeah I'm having a great time so far. There are a few more ponds to check out and there maybe someone here that sales koi. Tomorrow we are sailing up the napali coast and also going to do a helicopter one day. Kent Wallace will be here Wednesday and may come to our house and hang out for a few drinks.

I said "almost entirely herbivororous". Yes, some will eat tadpoles and small fish on occasion. But the largest part of their diet is plant matter. Like anything or anyone, there are always exceptions. I know a few Vegans who eat real Ice Cream, Cheese and Honey.
I think it also depends on what's available to them at the time. Most any animal will eat something that is abnormal if they are hungry and food is scarce. There are also several sites that talk about Swans ingesting other foodstuffs simply because they are caught up in the grasses and vegetation. But I've never read or heard about swans going after fish of the size in the photos above, have you?

Simply google swans eating fish. I agree they do not eat large koi. I also simply added "and fish". Maybe there is no small koi because of the swan. lol

I'm sure the swans get plenty of food here. Most the smaller koi and Frye are in the ponds out front and I suspect they move these over to the larger pond and just do the same over and over. Anyways people cull fish all the time and if the swan gets one then it is mother nature right? Anyway saw this little crab this morning

All of the small koi are in the front smaller ponds. This is one of the highest end resorts on the island also. The waterfall and pool area are amazing. They also have multiple parrots they bring out at times.

If you are island hoping at all, there are some nice ones on Maui in the K'anapali area. Westin K'anapali Beach resort has a small one but it is done nice so you can have breakfast or lunch pond side. The big one is just south of there in an area called "Whalers Village" where there is the Westin Maui which has a massive set up.

My parents are coming to kauii after us and going to maui from here for Couple days. I wanted to visit kodama and Galen Mizuguchi but I'm on vacation with my grandmother and she pays for most what we do. Later on I'll island hop. Thanks for the suggestions
