Since the pond is largely complete, I've had some time to work on the filter house. it's so much bigger than originally intended due to the silly filter runway I ended up building.
A picture of the side, you can see how the trusses were done. Not that it's all that exciting.

I'm a geologist in austin. Where the heck do you live that you hit granite?! The only granite i know of is Pilots knob out near the airport.

In the spirit of "never let a good crisis go to waste, I bit the bullet and did the landscaping around the pond ... still some cleanup to do, but you get the idea. (If Lowes would ever deliver my materials I could pot the facade on the filter house in the background!)
This picture is from the window of my son's room on the second floor.
The front of the pond - walkway leading to it.
Looking from the firepit patio
Obligatory - I actually did the work, I swear!
I thought this might be interesting ... here was one of the first pics I posted of the land where the pond would one day be, over 18 months ago.
There is still 8k lbs. of Sante Fe gravel, 5k lbs of soil and 1500 sq feet of sod in my driveway. So I'm not quite there ... but I should be through that by the end of the week. What's holding me up? Water pressure. I have to add a sprinkler zone to keep the **** grass alive.

Looks great man, it's almost time to kick back and enjoy all the hard work..
My hat is off to you for building your own Koi Dream, keep it up and thank you for sharing.
Wow - I'm realizing how long it's been since I've visited this thread and posted. Gutters broke, pool cracked, pipes in the house burst beneath the Texas snowpacalypse two weeks ago ... but the one thing that up in its entirety .... the pond and the plumbingEvery last bit of it!
