Wonder if I need to drill a hole through my raised wooden pond gravity feed to the sieve then pump up to the m nexus on a raised pedistals to gravity back to the pond.

I was looking at the rdf system out there but they are just crazy expensive.
I have a settlement chamber for prefilter
Haven’t clean any barrels for almost 2 years

      Lazy probably the answer
I told my self to do it once a year around fall and skipped last year
As long I’m draining my SC once a week then my water is pristine so far I had the chicken with lemons leaves that goes well with “Corona”

I had 2 Gold pans sieve on top for prefilter remember?
Since it was a small tank I don’t need a Cetus/USiii or RDF

You just need 2 sets of my pans/shower/heater barrel for you pond in my opinion
And build another pond with RDF when the right time in future

. What’s in the blue heater barrel Mitch? I really want to redo the pond with a bottom drain or make a new one but paying off the house in 5 years is still my goal. 2.5 years in and we’re down to 1/2. When the house isn’t paid off we’ll see. I might like other stuff lol who knows.

I don’t feed much in late fall and winter so if most beneficial bacteria washed away I think the pond still be fine
I like to clean while the water is still warm like in 60F

1/70 of an inch is about 362 microns. That’s really fine.

Yeah it clogged faster if you don’t use the floor matt
With the matt both last about 8-10 hours with medium+ feeding
Just for a small tank seems to control the waste better for me
I also use the 1/50” for my bucket sieve in the SC for my main pond which reduce a lot stuffs goes to the bio

Just bought another 27 gallon tote from lows $6 and I had an extra one from last time. I’ll look into a Periha 1600 and 2 sieve hat Mitch recommended. How lbs of bacteria house did it take to fill your box out?

. Just ordered the 2 sieve and periha 1600 3850gph. I’ll probably use this to pump through the jebao 55watt and I’ll use the classic 1900 straight to the 2nd filter. I can’t find a good source for the bacteria house. Seems a little expensive.

Combined I should have 5700gph water flow for my 1000 gallon pond. Do u think the k1 media is any good? Should I just switch to the bacterial house for the four totes? I saw they had those imitation from China on amazon are those any good?

. I ordered 108 sticks of the aquaneat bacteria house those should fill up the bottom 27 gallon tote then top one I’ll let the sieve seat in and I’ll put some k1 on the bottom of the bacteria house so it doesn’t clog up the drain holes back into the pond so excited to get 2 pumps running on better filtration

I like ceramic rods better for showers
Why not build a stand for the totes?
Then you can install 1 or 2 bulkheads on the bottom and route back to the pond
This way it is nicer and out of the pond area also easy for cleaning

It’s not that bad when I rest the filtration on the pond. Its better this way for me. I have a lot of vertical space since the pond is on one side of my house and not the backyard as the filter will stack on the footprint of the raised pond. It’s out of the way so I can get closer to the pond and study the koi. I won’t get the most of the stuff till dec 3rd. The sieve and pump will come sooner by 11/30. Can’t wait.

Now if the wife is okay for ya to build something like Vegaskoi in the backyard that would be awesome lol. A swimming pool on one side and koi pond on the other side.

Can’t wait to buy some tosai next year with you Mitch looking to get like 10 good variety ones to keep and replace the 16 undesireable that I have in the pond currently. I’ll probably donate them to the Bakersfield koi club here in town

That is very cool of you to donate. Hope to see your koi at the Bakersfield show. You are so close it is actually really easy to bring to show. With mitch's help you would be surprised that you can win some awards. I won 4 in Fresno with pretty cheap koi
