Okay, I think at this point it'd be good to look at what isn't right, since clearly something is not good,
and what changed. Many have chimed in to try and give you their thoughts of what looked like needed
correcting. The part that changed were the new fish, so maybe the water is good and the new fish brought
in parasites and/or disease. Karl listed Proform-C and Praziquantel (often refereed to as Prazi, Fluke-M is
another option that works well) that will control most of the different parasites. I'd get both of those as they
are good to have on hand either way.
Bacterial infections are sometimes more challenging to treat but Mary suggested Crystal Clear Wipeout
which sounds similar to the Kanaplex you're considering. At some point YOU are going to have to make the
decision on which way to proceed as all we can do is suggest methods of treatment. The local club contact
could be another great pair of eyes and being there in person might be able to offer you another valid option.

What/who is the local club contact? Sorry I’m new to this. Is it free? *laughs at the question*

Are you a member of the Mid Atlantic Koi Club? They should have members who could help you in person. The contact listed for the southern chapter, which includes MD, is Bob@BlueRibbonKoi.com.

Your local fish store should sell API test kits.
I'd contact the Mid Atlantic Koi Club and see if you can get help from Bob in person.
He is who I meant as a local club contact.

The black you are seeing on the fins that you mentioned at the beginning is normal coloration.

I put my big white koi that was looking really bad back in the pond with the rest of the fish to stress him out less. Today I looked at the pond and he was swimming and I put in food and he ate the food. I don’t know if he’s getting better on his own now. What do you think? Should I just let the cycle take it’s course? My other fish seem to be all right. As of now. My other big fish still has ripped fins but it still acting normal. Do you think it will resolve on its own?

Too bad about the local helper, but you tried.
If they were mine I'd decide which course (or maybe a couple) that you think you'd like to try if things
don't get better or start to get worse and order those products to have on hand so you're not waiting for
them. I'd also order those test kits (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, high range pH, and KH) and test your water
and don't rely on the pet shop that won't give you numbers. If they're saying things like it looks "normal",
that would be a sign to me that they're using strips that aren't known to be that accurate, or they really
don't know what they're looking at.

Okay thank you. I saw them do the tests and they had test tubes and they observed the color change and that’s how they tested the ammonia and ph. I’m not sure if that’s accurate or not.

That's good to hear... but I'd still get my own.
pH specifically needs to be done in the morning and late afternoon to see how much of
a variance or "swing" there is between the two times. It is more about stability and less
about a specific number with pH. You'll save on gas running to the pet store too and they won't
run into the back room when they see you come in for the 10th time with a water sample.

Do clear fins mean regrowth? My koi is getting clear on the tips of his tail and his fins are less pink. I think the stress coat may be helping him

I would just do water changes and dechlorinator only.

I would do as advised and purchase the test kit. It's easy to use and not very expensive.

I would do as KoiValley suggested and get the two medications on hand for parasites.

These may seem like overwhelming things to use if you haven't done it before but they are koi keeping 101 and you can do it!

Ammonia poisoning your water is toxic with ammonia that is the black showing up in the fins once you clear out the ammonia that black will eventually fade these fish are in dire need of healthy water

Oh my gosh thank you! That makes a lot of sense with their symptoms also. I will do another water change tomorrow and change the filters again. I will also get an ammonia and nitrate test kit. The only thing that I’m confused about now is why my other fish’s fins are ripped. It is a clean rip. On his fin and tail. Not ragged on the ends like fin rot, just ripped. Can ammonia poisoning do that?
