      Two Kohaku

Here are two Kohakus I got to grow out in my grow out tank for the winter, what are your critiques on it? I circled a few spots on one where I am concerned? They are 21-24cm.

I agree that your concerns are well founded on the two weak areas that you pointed out on the one with more red. I like it, though the other one seems to have better potential, partly because of the cleaner hi pattern but more-so because of the thicker build.

You actually have worse problems with the other Kohaku. It's Beni is harder and an issue in all these places. The other Kohaku is the better fish.

      Care to elaborate the issues?
I often read on this forum "this koi is bad" but without any explanation. Makes it hard to learn what's good/bad

The fish you didn't pick on has bad beni that is on its way out. Not only does beni lack desired glow, the edge is showing signs that beni has been shrinking.

Ideally the pattern on a Kokaku should wrap lower to allow it to grow into its pattern.

They both look healthy bulked up nicely
Keep them growing and the result might be way more better than anyone can expected
