Thank you for your support, easy drop in there is no plumbing required. If you have barrel filter, sand filter it can sit on top or inside the 2-3” pipe.

Hi. Question. I have two of these. One stopped working. It did it once and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was ok but I was off today and unplugged it and plugged it back in and it just flickers. I took it out to inspect it and there some water inside the quartz tube. Is this a defect or is there a fix that I can try? It's never fully submerged. I keep the glass below water level and the label and top housing above water level

Is this correct, the 36W unit is physically larger than the 54W?

I could give him a rough guess but if I was wrong you know what would happen.

I’ve been working on an inexpensive DIY UV using the Periha 54 watt drop in unit that will be gravity fed from a Sand & Gravel filter.
This same UV could be pressure fed by simply adding a removable cap & sealing the electrical chord outlet.
The entire assembly is made from PVC grey electrical conduit and fittings , because they are UV resistant .
      .
This unit shown is entirely 3’’ , in order to easily gravity flow the approx 2,000 GPH that the S&G filter is flowing . Max flow for efficiency over a 54 watt UV is approx 3,000 GPH , so this unit will be very efficient at only 2,000 GPH (giving more dwell time at only 2,000 GPH). Making it with all 4’’ parts would certainly allow more flow to easily gravity flow up to the 3,000GPH.
      .
Here’s the Periha 54 watt drop in UV . It is a self contained submersible unit with the transformer sealed inside. It is normally placed in RDF filters , or could be placed in a settling chamber etc.

Heres the intended idea for placement after the S&G filter

.The bottom assembly with the 3’’ To 2’’ bushing , and 2’’ slip coupling inside , will support and center the UV glass tube assembly into the 3’’ PVC conduit body. The 3’’ Bushing might have a lip inside , if it does , this needs to be removed so that the short piece of PVC pipe can slip all the way through . Removing this lip is the only modification needed of all these parts , and it can be filed or sanded easily, a great reason to buy a dremel .

.This entire 3’’ Bushing assembly gets glued into the bottom 3’’ Tee fitting .

      .
Since this UV has an internal transformer , it was easy to slip the power chord through the top fernco cap , simply make a small straight cut in the center of the cap , and push the plug through .
If You intend to build this UV as a pressure / pump fed unit , You would need to cut the chord at the plug end , install a 3’’ Adapter and threaded plug or cap on top of the unit , drill a hole in the cap/plug for the power chord to slip through, and install a chord seal fitting , then install a new power plug
      .
      .Heres the parts I used
