Use superglue to glue the shell together then the shell will naturally grow over the glue just like how when you get a cut you can use superglue and your hand will be just fine

Bloody hell...the little guy didn't make it
I built a little pen for him outside in the shade yesterday. Put in a plate of veggies and a large saucer of water. Checked on him this morning and he was as stiff as a board
I did a little research and the only conclusion is that he might've over-heated (not sure how likely that is) or succumbed to his injuries...I honestly don't know.
Whatever the case, I buried him in the yard
