How to plumb your Zakki Sieve

This thread will be a work in progress, but I figured i would upload the preliminary video explaining my favorite plumbing configuration...

Feel free to add your own plumbing configurations and explain why you decided to go that route. There is no one and only way to plumb the Zakki Sieve, so you can do things quite different than I do.

I thought Id post a quick photo to maybe get some others to post. It always nice to see how other people set theirs up to maybe get some ideas. This is how I set up my Zakki sieve up. One thing I wished I did was put the check valve after the pump in stead of between the pump and sieve. It would have made a little tighter set up.

My Zakki Sieve showed up yesterday. Well packed and intact. Zac I think you did share a few possible options to connect two 2 inch inlets? Much appreciated.

I have been asked multiple times how to plumb a Zakki Sieve with two or three inlets. This video explains how I would do that with a two inlet setup. If you have a third inlet then you would only need a swing check valve and ball valve on that line. The other two lines would be plumbed just like the video.

Can the smaller zakki sieve handle 2 inlets (one 3" BD and one 2" skimmer)? I was thinking about using with the Performance Pro Artesian2 1/4hp pump, which is about 4700gph. I wasn't sure if it would be better to join the 2 lines up before the sieve and flow that in to only one 3" inlet.

Yes- I have a 2 inch BD and a 2 inch skimmer line combining into a single 3 inch inlet ; works great. Each line has a ball valve on it so I can shut one or the other off completely or adjust the flow between the two. I use a bigger pump ( artesian2 1/2 hp ) because I have a lot of dynamic head.

Thanks for your response SteveK. I actually was afraid that the max 4500gph flow rate on the Zakki Jr would prohibit the use of a stronger 1/2hp pump, but I guess that is just the max flow rate of the unit and not a pump requirement? Does the lower flow rate tax the pump at all? I am assuming that you are using the 16" zakki...
