<< Do any of you with existing lotus have pictures of what your planters >>

If you live in an area that has ranch supply stores, these 20 gal mineral tubs work well. They are not designed to be refilled, so in these parts at least, the supply stores give them away or sell them for a nominal price. I buy my feed supplies for horse, goats, ducks and chickens from them, so mine are free. But I hear tell other stores sell them to the public for 5 or 6 bucks. These are heavy duty and will last years! The label does peel off. < g >

A few days of 65* highs have made the little guys happier! But sadly one more day close to 70* and then forecasts
say we'll be back to mid 50's highs. So I guess I'll move them back to the weak grow lights until some more
sunshine. But I'll enjoy them while it lasts!

I read some info that some will bury the lotus containers so they appear to grow at ground level. I didn't
want to bury the whole container but have a raised deck so I thought I'd try to make the containers at
deck level at least and hopefully the containers won't be such an eyesore.

The kids are back under the lights as the temps have plummeted outside and sun is gone. I moved them
to individual little bowls to hopefully make it an easier transition when they get moved outside.
But they seem to be tolerating the cfl's for now...

Hopefully algae doesn't bother them? Most containers are getting green

I just ordered set of 8 black handle tubs 17x21 inches for $36.17 including tax. I thought I would post this for anyone looking for cheap tubs.

I have ten sprouted seeds (all sprouted except the one that flew away during grinding), but I already have several other tubs.

I got mine out last weekend finally. Several of them have leaves like icu2's do. I've been terribly busy and need to get some pictures.

Thanks for the info but where did you order them from?

Opps, I meant to add I ordered the tubs from Walmart online to be delivered to local Walmart store with free shipping. Should be there Friday.

Wow icu2 looks great! I am just starting to get some leaves to unfurl! I was a bit lazy with the water changes so I had some major algae which set things back a bit.

It got over 70* today for the first time in I can't remember how long and it was too much for me to take.
I planted 2 of Cindy's seeds and 2 of Frank's outside so I figure if they all croak I've still got backups under the cfl's.

How deep should the dirt be in a 21 x 17 inch tall pot?
How many inches of water over soil?
Can the lotus stay in these pots for 2 years of more without dividing the tubers?

Took the plunge and put 2 seeds in each tub since I just didn't have enough places to put all of them
if went one per seed. Night time temps bring the water down to lower 50's but daytime it will usually
get to 65-80*. I read that they like to be fed... when are they old enough to handle it?

For soil I used about 4" of clay and 2" of sand and I read to only cover with 3 or 4" of water
at first so the water is easier to warm. A couple of links:
