I have treated regularly with nualgi, water stays very clear without uv. I only really have issues with string algae in the spring, I don't run filters in the winter so it takes a while to get things going and balanced out.

My small pond that has a lot of string algae is only 600 gallons. How much of the hydrogen peroxide would I need from Wal-mart at 3% ? Also how often do you dose?

I used 1 qt. of the 3% every 1000 gallons when algae is flourishing. When it's under control I go to 1 quart per 2000 gallons.
I'd add it as close to the algae as possible. I usually used it in addition to low (1-2 ppm) of PP but if you'd rather not use
PP I'd just try the HP and see that will knock it back.

Here's an old thread if it helps too:

Where did you find it at that price? Everywhere I look, it's quite a bit higher.

I had the opposite experience, a 1/2 gallon on the shelf at the local pool supply place was $34.99, and enough to make me leave without it.

Same here, on all counts! I bought 8 qts of HP, a gallon of bleach for sterilizing some equipment, and a bag of fiberfill for filter element. The lady at the register said it was a weird purchase, so I told her we had a guy at the cabin with a bullet in him (I made sure she knew I was kidding before leaving).

For those unable to locate Baquacil locally, I found it at Amazon; bad news is, you have to buy it as a 4 gallon lot for $90.

Personally I physically remove it, and consider it a means of nutrient export plus a I sign I might need to up the water changes. As I improve my filtration the spring string algae blooms seem to last less time.
currently working on plans and budget for my next build.

My water temperature has been 45 degrees for almost six months as we come out of winter. I uncovered the pond about 3 weeks ago and already have a coverage of blanket Algae and this is with no feeding in many months due to temperature. Will there be any issues using Baquacil Oxidizer while the ester is still quite cold?

How many treatments are needed Initially and ongoing for 1,500 gallon pond?

Do you heat your pond to get it to 45?

This year we did as we had a long two span of -20 actual temperatures. No heat needed now but, the ground was extra cold this winter even with the pond covered

I've not used Baquacil itself but used 3% hydrogen peroxide along with low dose PP under 50* with no issues.
For string algae mine took about 3 doses of PP and HP once a week. If you've got a lot of algae be prepared for
your filters to be overwhelmed and you may need to net as much out as it dies to keep the filters functioning.

First stop from the dual bottom drains is a large Zakki Sieve that has quite a bit of capacity but, I will check it regularly while I deal with there string algae
