Got time to play with my microscope again. These pics are from backwashed sludge. I think they are pictures of a couple of different types of copepods. I've seen these before and they are VERY hard to take a picture of because they move SO fast. So I got this idea and I got to play around with PP again. I put in a 2-3 grains for PP on the slide and then dropped my specimen, followed by a cover slip. It's like Armageddon down there - all these moving creatures seen under the microscope seems to be running away from the purple blob, catching up to them, annihilating on contact, and going for more! Now say cheese. The first picture is PP hot (purple), and the second picture is PP spent (brown). Makes one wonder if PP is also good for treating other 'crustaceans.' And I can imagine how PP can make such a mess (organic loading) if the filters are not taken off-line during treatment.
