      Crossing goromo with asagi?

I hear that goromo originally came from crossing kohaku with asagi, which got me to wondering ...

If you were to cross goromo with asagi, would you expect that to produce anything good such as nice goromo and asagi? Or would this just be big mess of ugly?

Also, what about crossing ai goromo with budo goromo?

      Thanks,

      Matt

      Hi Matt,

I have asked a similar question an the answer comes back as if you want asagi breed to asagi if you want Koromo of any variety Ai, Budo, Sumi breed to each other
so your Cross on Ai Goromo to Budo would be you best out come an you've locked in the stronger gene where it may go backward crossing to asagi.
Still be interesting to see what asagi x budo goromo would produce.
Im Doing Dianichi Kohaku x Budo Goromo this year to produce Ai goromo, Why: I need to strengthen the Hi Plate which Kohaku will do.
An Then use the baby Ai Goromo back on the Budo for quality in a few years. Ive posted the intended fish already as 2016 Potential Parents.
An you will see the Ai Goromo baby they produce in the post.
All the best i hope this helps.

Thanks Steve. Hope your kohaku / budo crossing goes well. From your parent photos, it seems like you could get some good results.

I can imagine how the goromo patterns may go down-hill if crossed with asagi. I'd think the size would improve, since goromo tend to be smaller than asagi, at least most of the ones I've seen.

If things go as planned, I will focus on showa this year. But for the future I do have adult koi for an asagi spawn or a goromo spawn of a budo female with a budo male and an ai male (with the option of a kohaku male), or combinations.

      Hi Matt,
Yeah its a little tough to know how it will go, We (a friend an i) are trying a asagi x goshiki at the end of spawning season just to see what it throughs, as a tester,
all the best with showa budo or ai groom spawn mate.
