      Mosaic Plant

For a surface variety that offers a different "look" for your pond, a more distinctive look, mosaic plant ( Ludwigia sediodes) is tough to beat. In warm weather it is a rapid grower, but not invasive. Soon it will be sporting dainty yellow flowers to further enhance the attractiveness.

It's beautiful. I'd have to overwinter it inside here though.

I really like it! Is it a rooting plant or a floating plant?

Mosaic is a rooted plant; my ponds are about 16" deep and with the 6" pot, I have about a 10" of water over the roots. I've read they can go as deep as 20". Sources also list mosaic as being hardy to z-9 and mine does survive the winter, but from what I hear, overwintering is indoors is difficult because this is one plant that needs copious amounts of sunlight to thrive.
I do make pots some up to overwinter in the shadehouse as back up;they actually make a nice hanging basket that readily converts back to floating as soon as it hits the warm water.

That is such a lovely plant. I've never been able to grow it, so I enjoy seeing pictures of it.

I like it alot. It isn't a rhizome plant like lillies? It's not something you can bag up the rhizome for the winter like tropicals?

No, it produces nothing in the way of a rhizome you can overwinter...if you are familiar with the aquarium plant Ludwigia repens....it has the same type roots. But as I mentioned, it does overwinter better emersed than submersed.
