Koi Flock Spawning in my Mud Pond...

At least, I think that's what they were doing? :D

They were in the shallow waters around the pondweed, fanning each other and kicking up the bottom and swimming around each other in circles. They were pretty much all involved.

They made such a disturbance that it was hard to see if any had lost their full shapes, but I might be able to tell later when I coax them out to the deeper clearer water with a feed.

I am wondering what my chances are of catching some fry and growing them in an indoor aquarium before the bass/sunfish/bullfrogs eat them all?

Should I try and net something out now? Or try to catch fry? How? The pond is 160ft by 60 ft and 8 feet or so deep.

Or just leave them be to mother nature and see what happens?

Your best bet is to prolly pull some of the plants in the spawning area, as they should be covered in eggs. And either put those into a floating basket or an aquarium.
I'm sure that if you leave it to Nature, some will survive, but not many and of those that do, most would look like Chagoi as those would have the best chance to stay hidden from predators.

Great idea. What sort of floating basket? Where can I get such a thing?

I make my own out of pvc pipe, 4 elbows and then sew up a box net out of very fine nylon curtain material but Stephen, and others on here, have purchased ready made ones. PM Stephen for the details.
