      Virtual show

      Hi.

I'm just thinking about entering a couple of fish. It would be a bit of fun. I see though that there appears to be no category for Kujaku? It's not a problem, I'll enter something else.

      Thanks.

      Dave

I wasted the whole day taking pictures....toooooo much glare....and panicking....Even took a bed sheet and dived under it to take pictures...no luck...still too much glare....
Injured 5 fish...they jumped out....had to wash them...and take pictures again....but the water remained dirty...
The only blue dish I could find is just toooooo small...
Send my foreman today to look for another dish....OOOOOOOOOO! what a headache it is to take pictures....
Will have to study the manual again tonight...
How do U eliminate the glare???? I plan to curry the dish in the house tomorrow...Tried umbrella too...no luck so far.
Should I put too much water or a bit? They make ripples on top.
Then I have never participated in a show before....Dont know categories...Can U appoint some one to advise /help Us newbies...since we can not post the fish on the forum for help...we can ask via PM....

Neli, one thing that may help a lot with the glare/reflections is using a polarization filter on your lens.

You can also try keeping a net over the bowl and koi until it calms down, then try for the picture.
If it still wants to jump, you might want to do it in your pond with the bowl floating.
If they jump out, you will have to catch them again, but at least they wont get injured.

Below are listed the breed types. Most are pretty simple to identify.
If you have one that doesnt fit, enter it in Kawarigoi, Bekko, Hi Utsuri and all others.
When we bench the koi, we will verify the type and size and place it in the size/correct category if need be.

      Here are the breed types:
      Kohaku
      Sanke
      Showa
      Utsuri
      Asagi / Shusui
      Koromo / Goshiki
Kawarigoi, Bekko, Hi Utsuri and all others
Hikari Muji (metallic single color fish)
      Hikari Moyo (metallic patterned fish)
      Tancho (Gosanke only)
Gin Rin 'A' (Gosanke or Utsuri)
      Gin Rin 'B' (all others)
      Longfin

      Sizes:
      Size 6 Over 24"
      Size 5 20 - 24"
      Size 4 16 - 20"
      Size 3 12 - 16"
      Size 2 8 - 12"
      Size 1 under 8"
You need to chose a size when entereing the koi.
You will do this when you go to the "my tank" area on the web site.

Pictures are required. You can submit a video as well as a picture if you like.
There is an option to upload a video when you enter your koi.

The video was an experiment based on the comments of a judge a couple of years ago, stating that it was difficult to judge without seeing the swimming actions, but our judges felt it was better to judge from photos than video, so the videos were only used by the viewing public. Some felt that they would enter but the video requirement was over their heads, so it is dropped.
