I can't do either of those, but the inlet nipple is cut at a 45 degree angle so a 45 degree fitting will get your inlet vertical. I can provide that fitting for you along with either Ferncos or unions to make the connections easily removable.

At the head height you will have from the S&G filters the shower will have no problem handling 2000 gph from each filter.

Carol wanted me to design and build a larger Lantern Zakki Shower so here it is....
Sorry for the video quality...I didn't have my hi-def camera with me so I had to use my old one which doesn't like to stay focused

The filter is 36" x 12" x 16" tall and holds just under 2 cubic feet of Cermedia equaling about 208,000 sq ft of surface area.

Size: 254.7 KB

The water distribution manifold is 38" x 14" x 9" tall and is capable of flowing well over 6000 gph if pump fed, but this application will be gravity fed, and will easily handle 4000 gph.

Size: 59.8 KB

The back of the filter has two 2" inlets set at a 45 degree angle so connections are easily made.

Size: 48.6 KB

The water distribution manifold is held in place by 10-32 SS machine screws so assembly/dis-assembly is very simple.

We are a custom design and manufacturer so anything is pretty much possible. If there is a custom design you want let me know and I will see what I can do!

I know you use the Cermedia but was wondering about Lithaqua as an alternative to bring up the Kh...have you done that?

Hi Vicki, my KH is 180 without doing anything to the pond. Comes out of the hose at close to 400, I just make sure to do all my maintenance with the water on hard.

My nitrates are at 5 but coming out of the hose they are 5, without rain to soak the fertilizers down in the soil from the farmers crops around me they are the lowest ever. At time they have been close to 70.

I can't say what differences I see in the water quality. What I do see and know is happening is that I am adding more O2 to the water and I think it is helping the pond cool down at least a degree every night from daytime warming. 82 in the a.m and close to 84 in the evening. I am very pleased with the athetics of the shower, I love the sound, I love the way the water knifes into the water adding even more O2. I know it is adding even more bio to help manage any heavy feeding I might be doing or heavy stocking loads I might have during times of the year. No exess DOC, no bubbles at all after the first couple of mornings I had it running, no foam anywhere on the pond ever anymore.

I see no minus's to this shower. Only pluses. I am so pleased with the addition to my pond, it was easy to install and had no maintenance issues that I am aware of. I will take it down this late fall when I cover the pond and start it up again in the spring as the weather warms.

I am sorry I missed this post from earlier. Yes the Zakki showers are completely customizable, and can be enlarged to whatever size you want. I would prefer to go wider as apposed to taller, because you start to get redundancy if you make the media bed thicker than it is currently. By going wider you can increase the flow, and still send nitrogen rich water to all of the media. If the media bed is thicker, then the upper layers of media will be overloaded with nitrogen and it would require more bio-mass to be created in the upper portion. This would rob the media in the lower section of the media bed, and reduce efficiency.

      I hope that makes sense

I was speaking with another member about this, and I do not have enough experience with the Lithaqua media to make a valid statement. I would imagine that if I increased the height of the shower, and created a second chamber for the Lithaqua to reside it should work just fine, but I can not say for sure. If you are willing to test it out I am sure we could work out a deal for a trial run.

This is something that I have also noticed with every single pond that these showers are on. There is just no visible sign of DOC's in the water, and I am even having trouble producing foam in a 6' tall Ethan25 Phoam Phractionator (And we all know those are the best around at producing foam) I got a tiny bit of foam the first night, but nothing to write home about. It didn't even stain the ground where it was being collected. I would like to see if others are experiencing the same thing.
