Scarlett - Kohaku

I had a thread when she was purchased, and Mike gave me some good info on her and another. I would like to expand on that and get more specific. These photos are from last year at purchase & delivery. I will not be bowling her for a long while.

She has grown a good 3-4 inches by my estimation, with her beni staying the same depth through out

And this is a Richard SJKoi fish of course.

this is a great example of what Richard is capable of! She's amaazing! The shiroji is brilliant, the body is very thick, yet long. I like the color of the beni. Not too dark yet, has a ways to finish IMO. Kiwa is good. Sheen is amazing of course, like most of his high end koi.

For a fish with a single step pattern scarlett is as good as she can be . How old is she ?

Uh - she was 2 when I got her last year so this is her 3rd year I believe.

Note I edited to add purchase size of 14" - release into pond 5 months later she was 17"

She appears as large as 21" in comparison to koi measured last year... which is a crap shoot

True. Mike had said something about when she is big that she could do well.

I feel, that if her quality continues & she gets the size needed to carry it, that she will do well.

Hence this thread, to get more input, or to see if Im completely off.

you have a very nice fish Prem is right on. This fish has it all, the sheen, the sharp kiwa, the body, the beni, the shiroji...all very nice. I think I will buy me a Richard fish someday...when I can afford it

So I have to have her GINORMOUS in order for her to not be over looked by the judges. I get that.

I guess I hoped that her other qualities, that may be lost on a 3-4 step would give her a chance. lol

Melissa....that is a very nice fish and the pattern is not going to keep her from being a contender....only if another fish with an equally nice package of confirmation...skin...beni and shiroji is there to compete at the same time...then pattern is the tie breaker..i am not a judge and i haven't shown any fish yet but that is my opinion for what it is worth....good luck with her....she is beautiful
