I would love to see them. Anyone have one that is over 8 years old?

Yes, I would like to see pictures of USA BORN koi, fish bred here that someone has purchased or that a breeder still owns, that is in this range....

here's a ****** from my backyard (pond spawn during the Hurricanes a few years aback). She win best Bekko at CFKS for the last 3 years..not this year however....KHV victim.
She was at least 30 inches before she got a dirt nap.
this pic was from almost two years ago...she didn't change much...just got bigger.

Not a spectacular fish, but one I'm very fond of, bred by our friend, Bruce Cheney of Prineville, think he's about 28 inches long
they'd be five and some now... the teri on the top koi is amazing. Both these koi are not for sale, but are back ups to hang on to retain genetics in case something happens to the main parents.

The purdin Showa that took the american breeders cup and is pictured earlier in this thread, I caught a glimpse of last fall and while i couldn't get a picture out of the mud the shoulder area had really gathered girth.
The kohaku I posted earlier here are the kind of koi you will see in the river that i had mentioned earlier so you can see growth and progression. The first year I went to purdin, I was amazed at the tosai
Kohaku....harvested at 6 months and already many were at 15 inches. So growth potential is quite great.
Here is a showa from Nisei Koi farm that took GC at the Puget Sound Young Fish show. It was nisei. I think we all need to realize that there are capable american breeders, who breed them big and competitive.
