      Hi Dan,

I don't know anything abour Sakai of Hiroshima other than Toshi Sakai apprenticed there and both families are good friends.
people like to vehemently defend their purchases and find it incredulous that anything could be better

sakai of hiroshima is known primarily for thier kohaku. Initially created from sensuke bloodlines, this mainstay has been changed by them into thier own line. initially they were criticised for changing the beni color to harder red and not orange but they created something the consumer wanted while retaining the great shape of this bloodline.
Like many breeders they have used matsunosuke sanke in the creation of thier own sanke line. Sakai hiroshima used to be known for thier shiro utsuri but gave the line up. Most of omosako's original parents came from sakai. kentaro, Hiroji's son spent two years at pan intercorp learning english and understanding american ways. My fondest memories of Hiroji is when i met him wearing a hiroshima carps baseball hat while he was in seattle judging our show. he gifted me with one of his tosai kohaku for my birthday and it went on to win best tategoi in the following year's show.
