Maybe my age is catching up with me, but looking at the drawing provided by Marilyn from Aqua-forte why wouldn't the pump being placed after the sieve and feeding the MB work. Depending on the pump size and the gravity flow feeds from the MB to the pond, the pump may need to be throttled. What I am missing?

I think the limiting factor was alluded to by Jimfish, you're depending on enough water to travel through the moving bed to keep it from overflowing.
I also think it is unlikely. Worth a try, I guess, and more holes could be drilled into it for more flow but you have to make sure the media isn't clogging those returns and/or prohibiting adequate flow.
Still learning as I go but y'all can call me Marilyn

I spent the better part of the morning digging up the canna lily bed... only to realize that I wouldn’t be able to plumb the sieve from this side

Dug, framed, and poured pad on the other side.

Hopefully it’s level and low enough. And hopefully it doesn’t rain tonight because all my tools are still outside

      Question

There is a 6"-ish difference between the bottom level of the MB and bottome level of the sieve.
The pump be currently on the MB level but should it be moved to the Sieve level? Also would this set-up work?
      Thanks

How are you feeding the MB?

I'm not sure yet but was thinking about connecting 2 of the TPR lines to the MB basin to keep the water level.
I might remove the media of the MB and just use it was a catch basin for the showers.
      Or keep the MB recirculating TPRs 1 & 2 > MB > pump > TPRs 3 & 4?

Or something, I'm not sure yet.

Don't think this will work. It will be next to impossible to keep MB, US3, and pump balanced.

Can you make a diagram of the pond to MB connections (physical and flow) and how the MB is internally designed? That would be helpful to me at least and possible others to offer comments, suggestions.

If the pump is above the sieve's sump it'll work similar to being above pond level and might be harder to prime.
You'll a check valve between the sieve and pump. If you can I'd lower it to the level of the bottom of the sieve.

Is the plug in the float that's under the weir or is there water in it?
