What to feed baby koi?

Hello KoiPhen Members.
My koi fries are about 2 1/2 weeks old, what can I feed them with?
I have about 100 small ones 1 cm in an 50 gal aquarium, I put the aquarium next to the pond and pumping water from the pond so that water is constantly flowing through at the turn over rate of one an hour. I put some algea from the pond in the tank so the small ones have something to munch on. I look at the live brine shrimp from the pet shop to day I don't think they are small enough for my koi to feed on.
Any idea?

That old they should be able to eat "egg layer food" available from many fish shops. Food flakes ground to dust oughta work too.

Live Baby brine shimp to You will need to hatch your own..Powder from your big fishes food bag or container..

Thanks for the info folks.
I'll start hatching rine shrimp tomorrow, for now I'll empty the koi food bag and get the bottom powder to feed them.

Don't over feed them..Small meals but often!

At the Seminar in OKC earlier this month the Aquaculture Prof from Langston University said finely ground pellets worked well for fry. He recommended that over flake food.

The last time I looked at koi fry feeding habits, peering through a 10x magnifying glass, certain characteristics became fairly obvious.

They hung out among cover such as aquatic plants and grass dangling at the pond side in shallow water, headed against the thermal convection currents. Constantly nibbling and pecking at whatever tiny fragments were drifting in the currents. Silts, algaes, miniscule organisms.

A dip net from a fertile, green water pond or tub would be a reasonable simulation of a natural diet, if the aquarium had slow gentle currents to carry the edible miniscule munchies.

Taking care to make sure you don't collect any small dragonfly nymphs...

A tiny floating tray with holes popped in the sides might be an effective food dispenser for measured amounts of ground to powder pellets, where it took time for the wet amalgam to be released just below the surface of the water...

I'd be a bit cagey about trying to offer them anything that would just sink straight to the bottom, into less oxygentated depths

Just fed them with frozen baby brine shrimp while hatching the live ones, they seem to love this stuff. I don't have to worry about water quality much since I set the tank next to my main pond and have the water flow through 24/7.

brine shrimp is ok for a treat but its really a pretty empty food as far as nutrition goes--kinda like iceburg lettuce---finely ground up high protein and fat koi pellets would be a much better choice for fast growth and overall fry development---toss some in a blender!!---good luck----steve

If your going to feed live baby brine shrimp, Google "brine shrimp hatchery" found a dyi setup with 2 liter bottles, worked great when raising my baby Angelfish..only thing they eat.

I keep a lot of Java moss in my betta breeding tanks. I also have a few tanks just for growing plants. They are loaded with java moss and algae.
So when I have any small fry. I put a big clump of clean java moss in. Along with some of the water from the "grren" tank.
The fry can start on that for a few days. Then add baby brine shrimp.
Its easy to hatch even in glasses. ( tip about brine shrimp. They are photo-sensitive..I keep a small lamp next to the hatching jars.Right up against it. Especially in the first 24 hours. This keeps the water warmer for a faster hatch and also you'll get a much higher percentage of hatch because of the light.)

Then I move to grinal worms which they love.
Then you can wean them on to dry food.
