We actually have several quality kin matsubas currently in QT. Various breeders, including domestics. Sizes range from 8" and up.

Your actually looking for an aka matsuba. You might try Kodama. We purchased several from them last year for reasonable prices...

That one above is going to get too dark. You'll lose lots of the reticulation. It's an aka matsuba because it isn't metallic and it's orange.

With the matsuba varieties you want to look for fish with a very tiny grey dote in each scale as tosai. The black will continue to fill in and it gets darker as they age. The second aka matsuba posted will probably be overpowered with the dark coloration and you'll lose a lot of the orange that really makes them pop. Gin matsuba happen to be my personal favorites.

So you'll probably get something like this which looks good an a gin matsuba cause of the metallic base, but not as good on an aka matsuba which has a mate base.

      As opposed to this.

You could always call up Genki Koi. They might have one. I know Garden Spot Koi had six or seven tosai at the Portland show last summer.

nope, not photoshopped that I am aware of. Photo was taken in Japan before it was shipped to me. I still have her if you are interested. I have had her since November, fully QT'd and serology tested for KHV.
