      Pacific rim volunteer

Am off here in a little bit to work on Trees in the Weyerhaeuser Pacific Rim
Display. It's an opportunity to keep the trees in great shape, get to know some other Bonsai Cracies, and build a rappore with david de Groot, the curator. So each Thursday the koi coach changes his hat over and works on bonsai Wonder what they'd think of my avaitar.....probably get thrown out LOL!

      Merry Christmas everyone!

      Hi Dick

All I got to say is, you lucky *%#*@ . To be so close to something like that. I got to travel over two hundred miles just to get to the nearest bonsai show.

I always learn something from helping the curator. Including how to clean and sharpen tools and how to protect dead wood that is in the soil and beginning to soften and decay. He packs us all up in his van and takes us all out to lunch. If you ever get a chance to work in anything your interested in as a volunteerr, I can assure you that it's worth your time. part of the joys of partial retirerment...

The Pacific Rim Display is located on the campus of weyerhaeuser where I-5 intersects with HWY 18 in Federal way. At Present the Staff has been cut back due to the economy and basically the display has been closed to the public until such time as things economically turn around. There is talk that it may be opened for mother's day
but that is not confirmed. The trees really do look good and i am hopefull that things may resume as normal soon. In the meantime, it's good that folks volunteer to help. I was very honored to have been selected and allowed to work on these jewels.....
