I'm already looking forward to the Oct. pull.

I just might have to fly up there in October and bring one of those males down here with me for my male pond. They are looking fantastic.

      Awww thank you, Orlando.
After I get my top picks for oyagoi I will still have about 700 blue shusui and some of them, i'm pretty sure will be male. By the way, my handyman said he thought he saw some squiggly things in the Lower. I've seen nothing but how could I? Thick indoor/outdoor carpet of duckweed with circles made by aerators? I don't see any fry getting out from under. But oh, the stories they'll have to tell.

I'd have to run a long-poled net down under there for a sample!

How long a drive from OK.? c'mon over!

When Monty pointed out a squiggle to me, it still didn't read as "fry." I'll try this later in summer.

      Hi, my dear koi friends!
I am here, on the couch, just as I have been for oh, so many months, working hard at killing people for the Man, in new and original ways.
      It's a trip!
So much to say that it's daunting. Let me see if I can do this in brief.

All the fish are fine! See pix below: my pet "Legacy" and her siblings
The ki shusui project is marching toward October.
The F2s have the most food and the least competition and are looking strong. Ki is stable. Easily can find 8-12 to leave in their pond over winter for a hoped for May spawn. But they will only be 3 yrs. old in May. They did not feel sexy this year. Maybe next, hmmm?

The kitty I found last Nov., Sparky, is a treasure. He won't let me pick him up, but he drapes himself across my body when i'm writing and I would give him anything. He has made best friends with my other orange tabby, Tommy, who is much older and somewhat agreeable to having his ears washed by this larger, younger, stranger. See him with his own TeddyBear.

We have been blessed (hah~) with baby fox or foxes. Not sure. One in particular comes to my call: "Here fishy, fishy, fishy!" and cleans up dropped fish pellets. Many conversations with vets and friends. Vets: "Stop feeding it, Max." "But..." "Stop feeding it, Max." "But winter..." "Don't feed the fox."
Friends say, "Awwwwwwwww. I want one, too. Keep it in the guest house. Get puppy chow." This is a girl. Her name is Puppy.

Other, Current book with JP is half-way done. (killed five people, omg, so far). See Murder Inc. below with cats, Tommy, top, Sparky, draped over arms. Laptop out of the frame..

Garden is putting on asters etc., Insurance co. ripped me off on roof repair. booooo-hoooo, trying to gear up to start using Win 10, booooooo--hoooooo, planning to go away after murder spree and fish harvests. Family is all doing well!

Bears got a new silver (plate) tea set from Ebay.

      And of course~~~

Three, no four, fish pulls coming up in October. John Clark is on board. Will be thinning oyagoi herd, will be leaving ki asagi "Thellonia" and her sibs and offspring in middle pond by themselves to see if they want to do the dance next year, reducing fish load in the Big, the Middle, and the Lower and cleaning out Turtle Bay for future offspring. Easier to say than do. Much!
I will post dates of the pulls when Mother Nature lets us know what she plans for first couple of weeks in Oct.

Cindy! and all a ya'll for letting me talk about myself. I'm a little pent-up, from all the bloody murder.
      And how are You???

Going to attach some pix now. I haven't left. I haven't moved!

      Wow! I love the bears.
Those koi look beautiful in all that duckweed.
That fox looks pretty scruffy. Do you know how old it is?

      Hi, Mes~
From what I've read, Puppy is between four and eight weeks. The reason his/her legs look like that is because he's coming through mud to get to the fish area. Or so I think. We have put out some food with flea meds and I don't know if she's eaten it or some raccoon has picked up where Puppy left off. She does not come every day. That is encouraging. I believe *guessing, that her mom is busy with a new litter or someone in the fox community has had a litter, because two fuzzy gray fox with eyes barely open were seen playing on the dock a short distance from where she's been eating. apparently, the community takes care of all. Meanwhile, I don't think trapping and relocating is really an answer. If her mom or family is alive, they're keeping her fed. if not, Blackwater Creek Gold-N is doing a good job. One of the vets i consulted actually told me that the fish pellets are good for Puppy. Mortality rate of fox kits is high. Mostly automobiles. If she can make it for another four months, she'll be full grown size and I'm pretty sure I don't want to find her sitting on my porch looking for fish food.
      You have some ideas?
Thanks for the kind words about the koi and the bears.
      And welcome to Koiphen!

The way we got rid of our fox/bobcat problem was to get rid of anything attractive near the house. We made our trash more secure and stopped feeding the local cats. The problem eventually went away, after they realized there wasn't anymore food for them. You can stop feeding Puppy once you are sure she's independent and ready to feed herself. Just stop putting out food and she'll figure it out from there. Who knows, she may even help with any mice or other pests. They are very skilled hunters of the smaller critter. She may be nice to keep around.
If you decide you want her out of the area, you can relocate after she's older or use repellent. I recommend applying aluminum ammonium sulphate to access points and on any fox scat you find. Foxes leave scat as a scent marker and they always smell it when they come around. They'll get a nasty surprise! Peeing around the house works great too, but you probably don't want to do that either. Although, if the fox wants to stay, a fox will stay. Its hard to deter an animal if its determined.

Thanks for the warm welcome, tis community has been very kind so far. I stalked this thread before I joined too.

Mes, these are great ideas! Afraid to tell you that I'll feed anything (except and bobcats) because i think i am hardwired to do this. I put in a 300' tunnel between the chipmunk feeder and the bird feeders with little stations along the way so that the chips can peek out and see if it's safe to run above ground.
accordingly, i have made the indoor/outdoor pet cats into indoor cats. but i did take the suet down because of BEARS. I live in a farm area, right in the middle of dairy cow and horse farms, so i think puppy is going to move soon to a place where there are more rodents and things. And yes! she p**ps where she eats!
If she persists, I'll be forced to take action, but i think she was just stopping by. we shall see.

I totally get it. I wouldn't have stopped feeding if it wasn't for my parents. The only animal I genuinely dislike being around are raccoons. Too many times the raccoons would eat the newborn kittens, only leaving the heads.
We have a lot of chippies around our place. They love the bird feeder! Luckily they coexist with the birds well and everyone gets a meal.

mes, oh, mannn about the raccoons. i never knew they did that. well, never had kittens, either, but this is good thing to know! friend had five maggoty baby kittens dropped at his door this morning. i called SPCA and they said get them here by 3:30 and he did it. i know he was looking forward to bottle feeding but that's way too much. he works all day. their eyes aren't yet open.
and now, time to feed the fish.
