Butterfly koi-
I'd like to breed her- but how do you know if she has eggs in her-?

take a photo of her with her head pointed to the camera. If there is a bulge before the tail, usually means she's got eggs. From those photos (though difficult to tell), it looks like she isn't full of eggs.

Beautiful Fish! Those lips look almost human...scarey! Has she been through a cold spell. If not, she may not have eggs. They need to go through a temperature drop to develop eggs.

How old is she?

No cold spell- I live in Hawaii....The pond store here told me to just put her in a tub of cold tap water (treated) and that few degrees difference from the tank water temp would be enough.

She is about 1 1/2 I think. I honestly can't remember when I got her. I know I moved into this house 2 years ago in November- and I got her after I moved here. She was 3" long. It was the same pond guy who said she was big/healthy enough to breed now. I thought 2 was normal - he said based on her fin length- she had reached maturity. She's about 12" long.

I'm only just starting to research breeding her- I'll have to find a suitable male on the island.

Here's a question- what if I end up breeding her with a sibling? considering this was one of a few bunches that showed up at the pet store a while back- likely from the same batch of fry from where they ordered them from.

the picture shows her farther away to judge her size better. Don't have a front picture-

Yesterday I put 4 videos on youtube of her swimming around. Under "butterfly koi"

Usually a drop of about 55 is good enough to develop eggs.
