When is a good time to induce a spawn (spring/summer) what should the water temps be? What should the male/female ratio be? and is there any site that gives an idea of what spawned with what gets what? also after fry hatched how do you circulate the water without sucking them up?

Spawns depend on your climate. I usually remove the few I want to breed a couple days before the new moon, every new moon and put them in the spawning tank, whenever it goes down it goes down. Male/female ratio is dependent on size of the individuals. Why not tell us what you have and what size and we can give you a better idea of how you should approach it. Pics help a lot too.

The water temp should be 68 degrees farenhite in the water. I have a smaller female so I only use one male but it all depends on size. In the past I have always waited 'till April to breed so that it's in the 70s (In California anyway). To see if the female's ready to lay her eggs, net her and gently squeeze her stomach. If her eggs are ready to be laid her stomach should feel firm. That's how my female has felt in the past but I don't know about any others. I can't remember where but it also said this on a website. Here is the website I made on my previous Spawning attempts last year: http://koijazz.webs.com/ I always just used airstones to circulate the water with no filter.
Hope this helps!!
