I'm no expert on hariwake, but the pattern looks nice, and on the head it has a VERY interesting pattern, hope it stays.

Looks like it has a little Kanoko action going on, which adds a little difference to the look. Do you have any other pics at different ages to see how it has progressed? Good looking fish. Female??? Looks to be carrying eggs.

Do I have photos...oh yeah.
I think it may be a female...I have had this koi for 2 years now so it may be coming of age...This one is from about 12 months ago.
I can see the change now and I think it is to do with fukurin coming around the scale.
you are the 2nd person to say female so maybe a breeder to my Yamabuki in the future.

Fukurin:
Scale wrap. It is the cuticle of the skin which appears as a line drawn in a ring around a scale.

Kind of like a scale with a french manicure.

Nice body, pecs look really good and like Gene said, such a perfectly clean head. Very nice looking fish. I just wish the pattern would have stayed truer to the younger look.

Me Like!!!! That might be the next fish on my must have list. Right behind the Shiro Utsuri, Budo Goromo, Asagi, oh wait... I am out of room!

That is a fine specimen. I would be proud to have it in my pond. My favorites along the same lines are the doitsu lemon hariwakes. I have three.

Your scaled version is exceptional, in my opinion and I would guard her very carefully!

My mention of Kanoko was an observation, not a Knock on the fish. A nice Kanoko accent can be very attractive and on this one it is. It appears from the earlier photo that the pattern has grown in size and depth and the head has remained very clean. We have a young one with similar characteristics in terms of color and an older ginrin as well. The head on the gr isn't very clean though and neither of ours have put on very good growth.

It's a beautiful koi....excellent body shape and pecs and good metallic sheen.
You have done very well with her. Keep up the good work

Look familier? First pic was from this spring and she has grow nicely and now at 9"+ she has bulk to her body.

Isn't that funny?
