Towards the end of the shots, where it's obvious that you were focused on the three step kohaku, that one sure shows promise. I see some I'd off because I can tell from experience they ain't gonna amount to much but this is your time and your learning curve. Keep up the good work! :)

They sure could have depending on your hiding spots..Our last pond/watergarden had a spawn and we didn't know at the time and we ended up with maybe 20 fry. This spawn and new pond had brushes in for their spawn which they layed the eggs on and when they were done I removed the brushes to a hatching tank. Now I am sure the fish still had plenty of eggs in the pond to feast on:yes:

If a fish has three steps at this size isn't it unlikely that this will hold as large attractive steps. I always thought that you whould have more coverage at this size and that the steps develop as the fish grows.

YA

I'm glad Cindy brought this back. Must have missed it or just can't remember anything anymore.

You did a very nice job. Just out of curiosity, what did the yellow/orange fry turn out like? Not a single keeper?

I need to get more pics. The babies are also growing and cute as heck.
No problem scooping a few out with my hand because they won't leave without food.

You know I still have not culled a single one yet.
Hello, my name is Rudy and I'm a culling wussy.

I got plenty of spare outside water for the little deformed punks come spring. :D:

That sounds like most of us Rudy. I hear ya. How can you cull something that is trying to survive...it's really difficult. There is always room for a few more.....

Rudy

UM  No

Truth is there really isn't always room for more.

The horribly ugly and deformed shall enter the pond of fate with the gold fish.
Survive the elements, lack of real care, herons and winters ice and they shall live.
You know the nasty mutts will live for many years. Karma maybe. ;)
