Do you have baby Ruby's?

Are they still in the pond? I have never experienced a spawn YET, so need to brush up on how you handle the fry.

If you leave them in the pond, will the adult fish eat them, like guppies?

What are you going to do with them?

Ruby is Mamma:yes: And the males were a Kohaku and gin Rin Chagoi..The spawning brushes were removed after the spawn and are in their own tank. We bought another tank(300 gal) and will move some over there since we have so many. Not sure how many will make it but a great learning experince.

It is a TON of work:yes:

I see a nice 5 step kohaku with a nice heart pattern right behind the shoulders. very nice.

There may be a small fin deformity....but I won't be able to tell for sure until you blow up the picture by 10%.....

Fry need live foods in the beginning as they have to see it to get it:yes:

micro worms and walter worms are both live foods
micro worms are slightly smaller than BBS and walter worms are even smaller
I like the walter worms better because they stay in the water column longer and the cultures seem to last a little longer.

I know this is going to sound absurd, but years ago when I had my first spawn, I had about 4 males to one female and I actually ended up with some 2 headed koi. Of course they didn't live, maybe for a day or so. It was really weird. Don't be surprised if you happen to see one or two. It does happen

Great pictures Marie! 2nd dibs on a baby Ruby! 1st dibs pays twice as much as 2nd dibs right? We may need a few angle shots to start selecting... You could like over night those in a straw....

I am sorry if I worried you. I didn't have mine in the best water environment like you do so it could have been something else... You never know with these delicate little guys. I just checked my water garden and counted 8 around the base of some plants..that is 2 less than I put in and those could just be hiding. Marie..you are the fish whisperer..you will be fine!
