Well they have been busy as you will see..I hope the brushes eggs will hatch. They are in a 100 gal. QT with air..My kids are fine and no injuries:clap: I don't think this was a huge spawn but still very interesting and I am tired:D:

so that's how they do it... always wonder... they push her against the wall to squeeze her eggs out.. what age do they start spawning at? or is it base on the size of the KOI? ex. 9" and above.

They can spawn earlier but 2+ years is a good start for spawning..Ruby is 5 years old I think and Bling is 4 years old. I think these were good pics to show how they do it:D: Ruby is 25" and Bling is right behind her in size.

Looks like you're gonna' have a nice mix of fry to work with. Nothin' better than a nice flock spawn and observing the results. Keep us posted!

Yes Bling is GR Chagoi but looks like a choc. bar now:D: I got him about 3 years ago and he was 12" and now is jusy shy of 25".. He grew pretty good considering he spends more time indoors than out. They are never big enough for me:D:

The spawning brushes which have the eggs stuck to them were moved to their own tank to hatch:yes:

You need spawning brushes if want the eggs..Some people use water plants but our pond is to deep for plants...They were eating the eggs and I was out there saying "no no":rolleyes: :D:

Bloodlines..There are more of red Kohaku(my male) and the orange red Kohaku.Ruby is Orgata(spelling?) I am not sure of my male but his whites and reds are beautiful..

Yes I have noticed that about ogata gosankes . they start off deep red when young and the turn almost orange as they grow .. a bit disconcerting .. I have a hi showa that is doing the same .. Not so with sakais shintaros etc

Ruby has always been orange/red and the male has always been red:yes:

They went out last Sunday and spawned the next day, Monday:rolleyes: :D:
