one of my water storage/holding 'tanks'
http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/seans_webpage4/images/6-picture3.jpg

To cut a long story short I wanted to drain the near paddling pool and whilst shifting the sides the collar came in contact with the edge of the sheet of metal between the 2 pools, .................slice, clean as a whistle. 3" slash in the collar.
Would you believe me if I said, I said "oh what a silly person I was"?

How do I fix it? I think the slice is big enough for me to work some liner seaming tape inside the collar and with a bit of jiggery pokery stick the slash edges onto the tape, I could then add a 2nd piece of tape to the outside and top that with a piece of scrap liner. Do you think it will work? I think tape on its own wont, it would creep and ultimately fail.

The paddling pool and collar are pvc/plastic and I would welcome any other suggestions

Sean - we used a 2 part epoxy from the hardware store. Kinda like fiberglassing a car. You mix the 2 parts and it heats up and gets hard. Dries then you can sand it smooth.

Do you have a boat shop close? The fiberglass repair kits for boats would work great.

Compare the price of a new pool to the price of the seaming tape. Is it just as cheap to get another pool?

I'm sure it could be fixed. Can you get a picture of the damage?

I just reread and noticed the hole is 3 inches so it shouldn't be too hard to fix. Cindy's advice sounds good.

Sean, using the liner tape probably won't work. You'll have basically the same problem I do with the plastic stretching as you fill it with air.

If you could put a piece of swimming pool repair tape over the top long enough to get the ring inflated, you could quickly apply the liner tape. Just make sure that the swimming pool repair tape is very small so the liner tape will get a good hold on the pool itself.

Thanks 'guys'
Unfortunately since I imagine the epoxy and fibreglass will be rigid they wouldnt work, the whole pool is flexible. New pond £70, tape £0, I have a roll.
However the thought has occured to me that I now have a ready made in the ground circular pond liner :D: albeit a not top quality one.
Sandy, what is "swimming pool repair tape"?

That's it, Dale.

Sean, I don't know if you have Home Depot there, but they also sell it. It's a kit that comes with a tube of adhesive and a thin, clear vinyl patch.

I was thinking this because the vinyl is very thin. If it held long enough after your inflated the ring, you could put the liner tape over it and it wouldn't affect the holding ability of the liner tape.

The Intex pools and pumps look very like the far pool in the above photo, I have the printed guff fot that pond so I may be able to 'indirectly' get that patch kit, I may even have one.

Thanks guys, I found the repair kit from the far pool, the Intex look alike, one patch inside the air collar, one patch outside and liner seaming tap and pond liner over that. Sorted, its been up a week, of course tomorrow morning it will be flat as a pancake and the garden awash.
