Here is ours..we put it behind the fence so you dont see it from the pond its 8' x 24'
I have really enjoyed our gravity fed nexus units..UNTIL we have been overrun with STRING ALGAE....It will flat clog up a nexus..pain in the backside :D:

Bart that's a very nice filter pit you have there....maybe we will be able to make a quick visit to see your new home and pond area while there at the show! Also, what is that lining the walkway on either side?

Looks pretty darn nice to me. And who cares how it looks anyway. It's how it works that counts.

Sorry, I'm pit-less. I do have an equipment pad hidden behind my waterfall and my bio filters are under my deck. Now lets see if I can find a shot or two of it... :D:

Our filter pit/deck..There is also a bead and uv down there..3/4 of the deck opens hydraulically to get down and service the filters..Work's well:yes: We added stairs and flower boxes to the back end which this year I can finally plant in:punk1::clap:

Pictures tell the story. Got the pond running; looked at it and said the infamous words:

You know.. I could've done ....

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k216/mbshot/filters.gif
Still going strong. No major leaks - #3 outflow for cleaning needs to be tighten.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k216/mbshot/pumphouse.gif
The 2nd pump line turned into a UV circuit and the water feature turned into a pond water hose ( to flush barrels). And yes, the system is off (Hey ! His ball is closed!)

I'm planning a major re-do (OK I'm tearing it out and replacing it with what should of been done the first time... Slow learner here. ;)(See the dream pond thread). But that's down the road; a little ways.. down the road.

Thanks for posting...I see a few nexus systems...how does the pump fed nexus compare to the gravity fed nexus ?

The only real difference is the 4" pipe to gravity feed out of Nexus, needs to be at the right height 4-3/4" down from lip)to keep water level in bio chamber at the 2" draw down line. Where the gravity feed, the pump pipe is under grate in the Nexus. Which boils down to the right pump for either setup(3200-3400 GHP. Also if you do have a bigger pump then needed and your flow is higher 3200-3400 the 4" pipe will be surging(burping)so have to find right balance point gravity return setup.

I also used a 4" compression fitting so you could adjust the four inch pipe up a smudge or down.

I have enjoyed my gravity fed nexus units until I have been burdened with string algae this winter..I had to remove k1 from Eazy and use mats..still clogs up every other day.

Its about 4 " deep on the bottom..traps debris from going to BD..I have been using a broom with a long pvc pipe taped to it to try and sweep the bottom to break it up ..I am nervous to try products to kill it..I think I am gonna move fish to qt and nuke it :D:

I was nervous too about using any chems to kill it but I took Roddy's advice and used Baquacil Shock - Oxidizer and don't have a problem anymore. I still have the nice carpet algae.

No questioning that. I found that I could have more bio capacity for about the same price if you build English style filters yourself. It was a hard decision for me, but it came down to just that, bio capacity.

I also have a Ultima II 20K bead filter, so I guess I did both DIY and manufactured equipment.

there's some nice filter pits in this thread! puts mine to shame!:bow:
Mines not the greatest and it was my first and pre koiphen i might add. also during digging i found a rock the size of montanna under it. hence the creative plumbing to the garbage can as my sump.

Wow..that is nice..what kind of system

It is based on 2 HydroTech RFD's. One for the main circuit fed by 2 bottom drains. The other is fed by the skimmer. There is a Fluidized Bio filter (with the SS lid) and a Clarity CL10. Water is returned though 2 TPR's and a Shower Filter. The Skimmer circuit has O3 on it.

Did you have the generator installed? wondering what the average price is as we have a bid out for the same size.

APOLONASGR36
03-08-2009, 01:26 AM
Yes it is installed now. It carries the whole house and one of the central AC units at the time. It has a primary and a secondary circuit and it shades the secondary circuit if overloaded. That is where the central ac units are connected. I got it at a great price $4815. With the 200 AMP automatic transfer switch and free delivery. Very happy for the money I paid. Little louder than I thought or for what the specs suggests. Great size.
There are few different generator/ transfer switch combos. This price is for the most upgraded one. Go to the web site and poke around. I had mine delivered 3 days after I ordered!!!!

Finally getting around to posting mine. It's been running since last summer, but I've still got a few things to do before I consider it done. Still got to come up with a cover of some type for the filter pit and I've got to hook up the bog and add some plants. Then maybe I can relax and call it done? Nahh. It will never be "done".:no::no:
