Hi everyone,

Thanks for a very helpful/interesting forum with lots of info and pictures of beautiful Koi

This is my first ever Koi breeding, I didn't even know that my Kois going to have babies, I have 3 large Koi which I don't even know what they are called, The Orange one (top picture) I guess must be the mother the other 2 could be males. And I saw some little ones which I hope are Koi's fry (I have some gold fishes in the pond as well). Please anyone could suggest what these Koi are?

Many thanks,

Lari

The first pic is blurry, so not exactly sure, but I think that's a Kohaku.
Second looks to be Ki matsuba
3rd looks to be armor scaled kujaku.

I can't see barbs on the fry, so perhaps they are goldies, could also be hybrids.

Thanks Lari for the info, about the fry they are about 1cm now, how old the KOI is to begin to show the barbs?

They will show barbs very young. It is just hard to see them on really small fry.

I see... now I think I need to give away the gold fishes and wait for the next season when new fry appearing in the pond :(

Thanks Lari,

I think they already are. Yes, I'm going to give these goldies to my neighbour :)

My mom has the same problem in her pond, goldies and koi. She has quite a few fry from the first spawn but none of the fry have barbles.
Look to be koi but at best are probably hybrid.
She's taking all the goldies and fry out and putting them in the small pond.

Those look like koi babies.

Two of the fry look like shubunkins to me.
