      Nisai Kohaku with Kadogin

I 've been keeping this kohaku for 4 months
      @39-40cm

now she (i think) is @56cm

one thing that unique about her is her scales...they have thin ginrin at the edge of every scales (kinda look like arowana fish scales but much thinner)
i think the term is kadogin
i've seen many asagi has this kadogin lately and they makes asagi looks much better than the usual asagis
Do anyone know if kado gin in kohaku is a minus point in a show? Russ?
i personally like them better than usual kohakus...and i'd like to try her in a contest

      thanks
      Han

This is a high quality fish. It's not true ginrin. But it is beautiful. I have an INC Showa with the same type of "kado gin". The pattern is beautiful and flowery, and the head pattern is very interesting and pleasing to look at. I just wish the fish had a slightly bigger head.

Better resources. I think the US is far behind most other countries in the koi hobby.
      Plus Han is awesome.

Curiously...why did you pick this fish? Was it expensive or average?
I've noticed that a lot of the fish you pick have pointy heads....something I thought we were supposed to avoid.

In the first pic, the 1. body lines look good, 2. spine ridge is very distinct and 3. it certainly looks to have a longer shaped body.
The only things that I see that are negative are the pointy head shape and possibly the beni (I could be wrong on both)

      IMO CMIIW
just love the kado gin and her skin...well i think its a reasonalble price, i get her under $300
this kind of body line (long body) is not my cup of tea (long rather thin), i rather prefer medium to rather short stout tipe body for under 40cm koi
in my exp the body tend to go longer in proportion later when hit size 65cm or larger
spine ridge is important in both type they must thick and strong to support large body later (yes hers just a medium ones)
you are right again about head shape (kinda pointy when shes at 40) a lil bit better now?
but the beni is good even when shes at 40cm (maybe the picture rather blur) or maybe the thin line of ginrin gives a strech picture of her, even when shes at 56cm
      catch u later
      han
