      suggestions on redo

Hey everyone i am starting a redo because liner leaked and drain was cracked by a friend slipping on algae and stepping on drain, anyway thought it would be a good idea to make it 2 feet deeper from 4 ft to 6 ft and put 2 bottom drains in ,only had 1 before also going to cap off old tprs and run 3 tprs instead of 2.. u can see the depth before digging by the hieght of old tprs. Pond will be just a hole in dirt with underlayment and liner like it has been for 8 years and held up pretty well as there is no way to bring equipment in to yard there is just no room . Top perimeter of pond measures 26 ft x 18 ft x 6 ft . deep i figure around 9 ,000 us gals im prob going with an RDF and looking to add another skimmer down far right side. any other suggestions would greatly be appreciated..

Go deeper, go wider, go longer!

Instead of tpr's I used jets. They are smaller; 3/4" diameter. http://store.sacramentokoi.com/pond-...ent/pond-jets/

My pond is about 45 x 16. I have nine jets. Wish I had a couple of more. Each one has two 90 degree elbows so you can point them in any direction. You can make them yourself.

Gunite ? I dpubt they could get any equip bach here unless they have just a hose that would reach from front of house to back yard which would be about 75 yards and if they do how about ballpark price.

Do they build gunite swimming pools in your neck of the woods?

Air compressor on the verge outside on the verge or up the driveway.

Piles of course river sand next to the guniting machine.

The benefits are straight walls coved to the finished floor, bottoms floor levels gently dished to the bottom drains.

Coved curved corners to reduce the water friction and create gentle movement on each corner as the water moves in a circular motion past the surface skimmers

Knock your pond off in a day.

Not sure about your winter weather condition.

It looks like the pond edges have held up with just soil over the last 8 years? If not, or if you're going
to add any larger rock around the pond edge, I might consider doing a concrete collar around the perimeter.

You have done all the back-breaking work.

You would now decide on the pump, filter, pipe run and skimmer positions etc.

I am sure you could sift through the guniting contractors and find the companies that are familiar with some koi pond experiance

Talk shaping and putting in the steel with them.

Very easy to do both yourself.

Steel was /is 8mm bar crisscrossed at 8" or 200mm centers

The more you do the less you fork out, the more you are familiar with what's going on.

I used to follow the pool building teams to the different sites to get the hang of how it's all done.

I built my domestic swimming pool in October 1973.

DIY jobs are obviously a little slower. The more you know the less likely to get taken.

A gunited pond/ pool is so smooth and easy.

I built my pond in about 1997

Overflow and if you're going to use a type of auto-fill device that has a pond level sensor like the Levolor,
it'd be nice to have a pipe dedicated for that near power and the household water supply.
It's one thing I never envisioned needing but wish I had planned for it instead of running a 25' cord
out to the pond for the sensor. Plus if you never used it for that purpose it'd be there for an extra egress
      or return if needed.

      I used a Levolor K1100 like this:

      https://www.amazon.com/Jandy-Sensor-.../dp/B005D2HOKY

If you look at the 100' cord, the white plug with the two silver prongs is the sensor that tells the
solenoid to open and fill. As soon as the water reaches the prongs, it shuts off. The plug would fit
neatly in a pipe placed anywhere you could get an accurate reading of the static pond level. I had to
put mine in the pond as I didn't have one and it works fine but it'd be nice if it could be all contained
      in the pump/shower shed.
Here's some pics of when I installed mine that might help too:

If your pond sprung a leak would you pick it up?

Just be sure to plan for the size and spray. I used one for a couple of years and it works great; but when it gets close
to shut off it had a tendency to spray mist everywhere. It needs a container large enough to house it with no draw down
from pond level. When I went to an RDF I had to find another option to have it filled to an exact level and quickly.

I made a stand pipe coming off my BD line just before the sieve. Went from 4" to 6" to house the float valve. And used a rubber coupler in the stand pipe to fine tune the pond level.
