Well I predicted a water temperature of 55 degrees by today based on the weather forecast but the sun was out and the afternoons the last couple of days have been warmer than expected. The solar radiation clearly made a difference because the water is at 62 degrees! It's going to be interesting to see how far it drops when the weather permanently turns foul but I would never have guessed I'd make it to December in Utah at or above 60 degrees without heating the water.

I get an average air temp on my power bill, it usually plummets in Oct. - Nov. but Jan. thru March is the real test:

Pond is holding pretty steady. Fish are getting fed a handful every other day and are all anxiously waiting for me when I pull
      up the cover.

Well I knew it was coming but we've been having true winter weather the last few days. Lows in the teens, highs barely above freezing--and the pattern looks to continue for another week. My water temps are at 56 and will surely drop further. It will be one of those "how low will it go" scenarios.

I feel your pain but I think 56* is really pretty good ... air temps here have barely gotten to 40* the last several days.
My pond temp is 47.1*and dropping but in all honestly it's only loosely covered to keep leaves and wind out and the shower and
water fall weir are still running.

Temperature has dropped quite a bit here in England over the past two weeks, lows of 30-35f at night and we've had a bit of snow, pond is still at 74f with the heating and cover is insulating really well.

I covered my pond with 6 mil. plastic two days ago. Early because of a heron trying to take my fish through the pond net. The first day the heron was back, it walked all over the plastic and right in the middle it put 10 big hole punches in my cover. I can't get to it to repair it. I hope I don't lose to much heat though the holes this winter. So two days ago pond water was 55.7*. Our temps. dropped into the 20's at night and will stay in the 20's for three more nights. Very unusual for us in December. Tonight pond water is at 51.5*. So I have a loss of 4.2*.

It snowed for the first time in 8 years here. Current air temp is 34 and water temp is 49. Supposed to drop to 27 tonight.
2 fish were darting a few times earlier. They've chilled out since then.

Eh about 44° last I checked. Will drop further. Think I need to get a pond cover. It's not usually cold enough for it but this is crazy.

It appears the cover is doing something to keep some heat in the pond. My experience over the last 10 years tells me the pond would be in the upper 30’s. It’s now at 40.6. Tomorrow I’m going to shut down the main pumps and take off line the 3 external filters. This will leave the one skimmer pump running. I think the 3 55 gallon barrel filters are where I’m loosing a lot of heat.

Mine was at 54.8 this morning. Not bad considering it got down to 21 last night. I have some well water going in when the temp gets below 56. Seems to be working well.

Temp falling further here down to 26f this evening, expecting heavy snow tomorrow. I wrapped up the biochamber and filters this afternoon with some old fleeces, they’re inside an equipment shed, so they’re protected from the cold to an extent, but this should help further.

Changed just over 500 gallons of water today too, which lowered the pond temp from 74 to 70.5, but the heater should have it back up by morning.

59F. I'm doing water changes with tap water that has temp of 56F. I have not implemented warm water water changes yet. Cover set up is doing better than last year I think.

Ambient temp down to 23f this evening with a 4 inches of snow. I did a 500 gallon water change this afternoon and pond temp was at 71f - down from 74f before the change. Now at 72f and rising back up with the heater on after a couple of hours.
