Sorry, just noticed when I opened the thread.
Thank you,
The settelment tank was 3 feet so, I just put a 2X6 in the bottom and stand on it, and move it when I am done with one side, it was easy.
I just put the pictures for this because, I have learned everything from koiphen and other friends, so what I have done.. already was done by someone else..
Where did you get the mesh and fiberglass resin and what did you use as a top coat (blk) ? what was this product?
Bought the fiberglass mesh cloth from a boat builder, on sale. Resin was also bought from the same place. Much cheaper comapared to online places.. these days only one gallon can be shipped.. So if you want to buy bulk.. buy from a big boat builder or fiberglass pool builder.. maybe will cost u about $80-90 for five gallon. They have the resin in a big tub.. 300 gallon ones. Sorry dont know the product name.
Thanks...looks great
The pond was up and running for 3 months now, initiall employed portable foam fractioner to help with the green water. Now UV is on, bottom air and water condition is pristine. Can see 6 feet down and the bottom drain. Currently have approx. 130 kois in there, including maybe 100 baby kois. I know its a lot.. but I plan on letting the babies grow a season and then trim the heard next year in the spring. The frys were from my buddy's spawn of Showas and Kohakus. They were only 2 inches when i got them, they grew over 2 inches in a month! There a some tatagois there... The kois are eating a lot and the water paremeters are excellent. The pond now has a uniform alge carpet all over.
It takes bi-weekly flushing 30 gallons from each filter tanks and hosing off the matala sheet as a maintanance. I am in the process of designing a screen railing to prevent my kids from throwing thier toys in the pond.
Looks great. I like the stacked stone facade on your raised wall.
What's the giant vat of sulfuric acid for? Is that used to ward off predators that can read? j/k
Looking good, thanks for sharing.
Very nice looking and blends well with the existing stone work. Just wondering how the skimmer is working. It looked a bit low in the first pics.

Thank you for your kind word. Skimmer works great with just the waterfall.. and the gravity 3 inch direct to the settlement tank works really well. But with the bottom drain air pump... not so much.. air pushed debris to three sides and only one side have the skimmer. So its bad for debris and good for feeding.. I can feed them on the side with no skimmer and food stays there, while the suckers eat.
Any more pictures??
Nice build and photo documentation. I'm building a 600 gallon moving bed out of plywood and fiberglass cloth... just put on the last coat of resin on yesterday. Not much fun when there isn't much elbow room when working from the inside. I used to work on a fiberglass car I had, but that experience didn't seem to help me much as I struggled to prevent wrinkles in the cloth. Hopefully it will hold water and I'll forget the negatives in a couple years. Let's say, I'm not "itching" to do it again.
Better yet do you have a video of the pond and filtration setup thanks
