you can name her after me.

      or rudy.
I could, but I don't think it would be right giving HER a GUYS NAME!! She doesn't "swish" that much when she swims!!

Benzaiten is the Japanese river-deity, she came to be the goddess of everything that flows: words (and knowledge, by extension), speech, eloquence, and music.
Benzaiten in Japanese (辯才天), reflected her role as the goddess of eloquence

      Thanks Melissa, you done good!!!

I was not familiar with Benzaiten so I Googled. ...
then I found that it is also called as "Benten-sama" which is very familiar name among all Japanese.

lol mike - good names . I too have only 3-4 named . none are japanese names though . names here have a habit of being shortened and changed any how ..

It seems like "Bensaiten" in Japanese (辯才天) is origin, then "Benten"(弁天) is well-known among ordinal people like me....

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzaiten ..... 辯才天 → 辯財天 → 弁才天 → 弁財天 → 弁天(Ben ten) ... it is complicated, isn't it?

So, the Benten is more of an everyday useage and the Benzaiten is the "older" more formal? Yes, it's complicated. I have a copy of Rosetta Stone to TRY to learn Japanese. One of these days I will get into trying to learn. Right now, I'm more intimidated with the language and at my age, I don't know if I'll be able to succeed!?
