I was just reading about this product as a safe treatment for flukes. Seems too good to be true. Has anyone tried it yet?

Haven't tried it (thankfully haven't needed it)but found this --MinnFinn is a mix of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide - peracetic acid is an oxidizer and antimicrobial -somehow processed from acetic acid(vinegar is a mild solution of acetic acid) and hydrogen peroxide - has been used as a disinfectic for hard surfaces, like counters and food processing machines.

The KHA for our Koi Club and the gentlemen, who is the KHA from another club really think it is a super product.
He said this:
" This would include Dr. Paul Curtis's new product - "Minnfinn" - that he brought to his vendor booth at the seminar. Has Dr. Curtis presented this to your club already?
PS: I used Minnfinn last week on a shipment of new tosai from ______ and it has a number of interesting advantages - we opened the box, treated them for one hour in a stock tank, added the neutralizer and the flukes were gone. The fish acted like they had never left home, were up and eating right on top of our QT the next day. They had spent 48 hours in the bag..."

No info on pricing, I'm sure it ain't cheap
Aquatic eco is testing it now before they put it in their catalog- Heard Dr Nick presented the product in SanDiego, and he is very good. Fairly expensive however.

I did a quick check and found it at USAkoi for $75 a liter (for 8,000) including neutralizer. Pricey, but if it works...I'll have to check it out.
I missed that, thank you.
Saw the product at the Orlando show - 73% of the ingredients were unidentified. So I don't know what's in it, but it says it will nuke flukes and most protozoa (chilo, trich, ich, lice, etc)

Pop that is what I thought too. I think we could handle it
here is a bit more info on this product ...

Digging a bit further, this website says that peracetic acid is acetic acid (vinegar) and hydrogen peroxide, but Minnfinn says it's a "mixture" of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. That doesn't make sense. To be a mixture of peracetic acid and hydogen peroxide would mean acetic acid/hydrogen peroxide mix + hydrogen peroxide. I'm wondering if this stuff is just peracetic acid?
this link says this stuff is a more powerful oxidizer than chlorine and has a PH of 2.8

comments?
I spoke with Paul Curtis at Aqua Solvers about this. Unfortunately, they are trying to line up distributors, so I can't buy this locally. They can sell directly, but there's a $50-70 hazmat shipping fee. Add that to $89 (8000 gal dose) If needed 3 times, that adds up. Ouch!
I suggested he go to as many of the upcoming koi shows to promote the product and maybe get some clubs to try a sample. At least there'll be more "real world" results out there. I'd feel more comfortable using it if I knew someone who had already. I don't want to experiment with my koi!
Hopefully, we'll get more info on this product real soon.
My guess would be if the retail is $89 then the cost of making it would be about 89 cents, typical pharmaceutical mark up....UF was doing studies with hydrogen peroxide a few years back for treatments of flukes and protozoa and their results at that time were quite promising.....I wonder what the neutralizer is made of,that would most likelly give uo a better hint of the ingredients....
I know in 04 right before hurricane jean a customer of mine had fluke issues[scoped and diagnosed]...before he was able to treat the pond the storm hit and knocked his power out ,when he called I gave him the dosing for emergancy o2 using hydrogen peroxide,he sprayed it for 3 or 4 days before he could get access to a generator..the hydrogen peroxide stayed active in the pond for at least 7 days, well say no more, the flukes were gone....well us who have used hydrogen peroxide to clear pp know what a safe dose is,now we need Roddy to tell us what a safe dose of vineger is..............pearl
Ive used HP dip for flukes successfully. One part 3% hp to nine parts water. Dip fish for Ten seconds only.

Every good landscaping project starts with a hole!
Thats what I was wondering, what is the role of the vinegar ? My guess is it somehow enhances the oxidizing capability of the product.
Maybe I should run down to the local landscape store, pick up a few $5 mutts (which are bound to be carrying a fine assortment of parasites) whip up a batch of vinegar/hydrogen peroxide and see if I can kill the bugs before I kill them? LOL
In any event, if this stuff is simply vinegar and hydrogen peroxide mixed, it is WAY overpriced !
hey patch ,maybe try some salad seasonings in the mix as well.... lol
