Our Fed Ex delivery man lives near and has Koi and comets. He gave me a lot of babies about 1 inch long. I was trying to get some sarassa babies. One baby was this black one I named after him. And one is white, about same size. Called Tebow he has some red on him. But no sarassa comets at all And no barbels.

Glenda that is what my bunch look like. Is yours really friendly too? Their siblings changed to orange when they got to a certain age but these guys are getting really big and are solid black.
Here's Tebow

I like the black Comet.
Hhmmm... I have about three younger comets, less then a year old) that are still black after a year. I don't like them in the pond because I usually don't see them but I think they would look really nice in the aquarium. Why didn't I think of that??
The problem is catching the fellas. They are not only fast but their color makes them very stealthy. Stealth comets, sounds like some sort of weapon.
The person who bought the black fish above has reported that it has one set of barbels and a scale count that falls in the carp range.
This fish is likely a hybrid.
Can anyone report on if they are sterile or not?

I have several of the black ones too. They have small barbels and my oldest one is at least 3 years old and only 12 inches long.
The picture is not recent.

All of my koi/goldfish mixes have been sterile. It's interesting that one of the koi parents was a gin rin fish and the gin rin showed up on the black fish.

Would love to have a couple of them to!!!
I recently bought one of these "Black Comets"... they have little barbells and are hybrids. Really friendly and still pretty cool though.
