I have never seen anything like this. A black comet. Very cool looking.

They are nice aren't they. I always end up with black ones in my pond and they grow really big too. Sometimes their color can change when they get older and they get some orange.

Pretty. The fish would show up great in an aquarium. In the pond, it's probably better to have brighter colored fish. That's a nice one.
I would love to have some of those! Real nice!
They remind me of the black sailfin mollies.

Black Moores can revert to Orange too
Nice Looking Comet there
I have 6 of them and they are some of the friendliest goldies in the pond. When I am feeding them shrimp it can be a bit weird because I feel them biting before I actually see them...stealth comets. They are getting really big too!
I understand that black can be unstable in goldfish. I had a beautiful Shubunkin that slowly lost most of its black over its lifetime. And black tends to be more stable in some varieties (i.e. telescopes/moors). So it would be interesting to know how long this fish will remain this color. But it does not look like a juvenile coloration that would be lost to other colors to me. Maybe I should try and get me one and find out.
My Lovely Black Moor Telescope was fully adult when he began reverting to a regular Goldfish Hue
http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/...1Goldfish.htmlTELESCOPE
The telescope has eyes that protrude similar to the celestial, except the eyes do not gaze upward. The shape of the eyes can vary with each fish but the extension of the eyes should be balanced. The telescope is also a double-tailed fish whose body shape is short and round, similar to the ryukin. One well known telescope is the black moor, but they do come in other colours as well. I have found if very difficult to find a black moor that keeps its black colour. They usually turn red. When purchasing young fish, don’t be too disappointed if the end result is an orange or white telescope. Enjoy these fish for the beauties that they are.
Curious, the few black moors that I've had have remained black. I admit that my experience is limited but I have read that solid black is stable in telescopes. Here's a quote from a thread on another board:
I have had my telescopes spawn and it seems to be true that the introduction of any other color destabilizes the black. But the solid black fish have been stable.Sonny, in my limited experience, the black moors will stay black, the red-and-black telescopes will remain red-and-black for quite a while but are prone to loose the black, the red-and-black-and-white telescopes will turn grey-and-brown, and the black-and-white telescopes will turn grey-and-white. If I'm not mistaken, the metallic white is a relatively recent development in telescopes. The white could have appeared as a mutation or it could have been bought in for selective breeding from another variety. Since oranda have the same problem, maybe the white was bred into telescopes from oranda. I too am curious about the history/process. Perhaps the gene for white and the gene for the unstable blue-black are somehow linked.

I have 2 telescopes in my pond (sorry, should have taken them out), but they are completely black and have been that way for 2 years so far. When they get older (I had an old one) they tend to get a pretty white or clear around their fins.

I have a solid black comet and koi mix that will be 3 years this summer and is almost 20 inches long. Beautiful fish. Looks like a shark in the pond.

???why
I have a bunch of fancies outside, including a pair of blackmoors... they're fine.
I too really like this BLACK comet... the stealth factor in the pond kinds blows though. There are some lemons for sale as well that would really pop on black liner though. I might even buy one IF I wasn't currently lusting over a Bristol Shubie that is kinda expensive. Plus I need my big pond done.
