      UV Bulb replacement

I have the newer savio 26 watt UV and it's over a year old now. They say you should replace it every year, does it really need replacing or is this just a sales gimmick? How often do u guys change them out and where is a good place to buy from?

They do lose efectiveness after a year or so depending on if you run the UV all the time or just part of the year, I usually just replace mine but if you want to try and get more life out of the bulb you could buy a new one to have on hand and leave the old one in untill you start noticing algea.

If you only run during the season, then you can wait two pond seasons to change it, if you run all year then you change it every year.
The more you think know, the less you learn.
